I'd been looking for one of these - model number M8859 - for a few weeks, as (I believe) it's the fastest powerbook capable of running OS 9 (http://lowendmac.com/pb2/powerbook-g4-867-mhz-1-ghz.html). The one I got has 1GB ram, and has OSX 10.5.8 installed. I'm planning to dual boot it with OS 9.2.2.
For me, it'll complete my collection, as my powerbook 1400cs is running 7.6.1 and 8.1 and it will run 8.6 (once I get > 24MB of memory) and I also have an SE/30 running 6.0.8, 7.01 and 7.5.5. Yeah, yeah, I know I don't have a 128k running system 0.97, 2 or 3 - but I ain't *that* hardcore. And with the wife questioning this weird hobby as it is, I can't afford the size/obviousness of desktops.

Yes, the TiBooks were great machines. A TiBook-800 was my main laptop until I upgraded to a MBP 2.3 C2D. Treat your TiBook carefully, as the only real fault they had was a failing lower SO-DIMM slot. Mine dropped back to a 512MB, but as I hadn't got overly attached to it I passed it onto a friend who wanted to do some digital photo/video work in a small apartment.

Yeah, these are great machines. Mine's a perfect no-distractions laptop for my writing, but to be honest if I were more of an OSX fan I could probably use it as a daily driver and only ever have trouble with streaming video.

Nice once.
I've been looking for that particular model recently.
I hope you have the original disk that came with the machine, as per Apple Support article, it is required for booting up OS 9.2.2.

Fortunately, the "boot any" eMac OS 9 CD will work with the TiBook. My TiBook/867 had 9.2.2 installed on it from that and it works fine.

Just an update to this:
All up and running with a dual boot setup of 9.2.2 on a 9GB partition and OSX Leopard 10.5.8 on a 60GB partition. Both OS's run really nicely - Leopard is not too sluggish and, with OS 9 as its own beast, I don't miss the Classic option of 10.4.11. That 'option key' boot OS selection is really handy.
I added a micro USB wifi 'n' adapter (an EDUP N-8505GS) which runs fine under OSX and allows me to connect to WPA2 wireless 'n' networks. Sweet. New battery on the way from the bay too.
Thanks to my other Macs and my Hackintosh, I've now got System 6 through 10.8.3 covered 🙂
