Chicago Craigslist Cube
Posted by: Juror22 on 2013-03-07 22:32:53
I found a Cube on Craigslist for $75 in the Chicago area and since I live only a few hours drive away, I emailed and asked if it was available (I missed the one in Springfield that was $10 a few months back). The guy who was selling it emailed me back and said it was mine if I wanted it, so last weekend I took a trip up to the NW suburbs and now I have a very nice Cube 1GB/450MHz/120GB (no speakers, but it came with everything else, including all the docs and disks still wrapped up) in the original packaging. It came with the 15" display - also in very nice shape, but no box.

I am very happy with it, and the price was not too bad.

I had not seen one of these in real life, since the demo that I used to visit at our local Circuit City was sold off.

Here is the picture of it from the Craigslist posting:

go to walmart and get the turtle beach usb dongle for sound. Cheapest way to go no drivers needed, then you can use any speakers you want. There on the clearence rack at ours for 7 dollars.

I tried every nearby (and some not so nearby) Walmarts and did not find those anywhere. I think it might also be bad timing since they just cleared out most of them here and put individual clearance areas back in each of the departments. Thanks for the tip anyway. I did find some original cube speakers that were in nice shape on eBay as a buy-it-now-with-free-shipping deal and they just arrived today, so I have those for now...

Nice, i rebuilt my cube speakers from pro speakers as the black surrounds on the cube speakers decay but the pros dont.

That is a good tip. These are still alright (second thing that I checked and they didn't crumble when I touched them), but the next chance I get, I will snag a pair or two of the Pro speakers, because eventually I will need them.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the original speakers? I'm just going to do a Pro mod on mine, but I would like to know.

For the USB ones? If so, that's a steal!

Indeed they were, and that's what I thought as well,
