Posted by: Dimitris1980 on 2013-02-18 09:41:51
Hello. I have an imac g3 with the following info:

cpu: Powerpc G3 at 500mhz

ram: 1 gb

video card: ATI Rage with 16mb ram

hard drive: 40 gb

Can i do sth to make this computer faster? I use it especially for games.

Thanks and regards

Dimitris

well find out if the cpu is IBM or Motorola,

If its IBM you might be able to overclock the cpu to 700mhz or more

The only other thing you can do is Change the hard drive to a 7200rpm IDE something…

will speed up loading etc greatly!

If you don't need the the optical drive, I would disconnect it from the IDE cable, because its IDE cable is shared with the HD.

This is only a problem when you access both at the same time. If one is idle, it doesn't make a difference. IDE has a shared bus by design and just having a device connected doesn't waste any bandwidth on the bus.
