| Apple Books and Appleshare 3 |
Posted by: CelGen on 2013-02-08 17:12:43 Dumpster diving at the university. found close to a whole shelf of Apple documentation.

Books included system 6 and system 7 reference manuals, hypertalk and hypercard programming, ProDOS and MacWrite and smaller manuals for Apple SCSI, AppleTalk, LC ethernet and the Power Macintosh upgrade card.
I love how the commercial only showed the Users manual for the Macintosh but neglected to mention that excluding the reference manual there's a LOT of other books for each extra piece of hardware.
Of course, the big winner was a BOXED copy of Appleshare 3.

From a previous megaconquest I got two incomplete install disk sets but now it appears I have at least one complete set plus all the documentation. Now perhaps I can get ProDOS netbooting off the WGS 95.

Posted by: TheIanMan85 on 2013-02-08 22:41:02 That's the most amazing Apple book/manual conquest I've ever seen.
AppleShare 3 boxed is awesome on its own. I have the same and eventually will get around to trying to get a IIgs net booting. Both mine are Woz editions, so I think upgrades may be needed (RAM?). Been a while since I looked at the AS manual and longer since I touched either IIgs.
Congratulations on the finds! Do you check that spot regularly or did you just get lucky?

Posted by: CelGen on 2013-02-09 00:04:49 Don't check it often. The university essentially abandoned their electronics labs and converted it into trades training classrooms so over the last five years they dumped pretty much everything from robotic arms to DEC RK05j pack drives with missing head/actuator assemblies.

a BOXED copy of Appleshare 3 ... perhaps I can get ProDOS netbooting off the WGS 95. Forgot to say earlier: that isn't the version of AppleShare you want for A/UX. You'd be looking for AppleShare Pro. Though I wouldn't be surprised if v.3 worked on A/UX, it isn't the hybrid version of the software.

Posted by: CelGen on 2013-02-09 07:50:30 Don't need to run A/UX on this when I got an ANS. 😉 The system runs 7.6 with the 601 PDS card so it can't run A/UX regardless.

Don't need to run A/UX on this when I got an ANS. Don't use that crappy uShare that comes with it -- make sure you use the AFP server in 4.1.5. It's much, much better!
