Quiet Hard Disk
Posted by: VMSZealot on 2015-09-25 04:05:21
My SE/30 is almost perfect.  It has a 32bit clean ROM, a 1GB hard disk, 68MB RAM, an Asante Maccon ethernet card - and A/UX 3.01 installed.  The only fly in the ointment is the noise it makes.  The fan is silent now (I fitted a Silenx fan to it), but the hard disk is rather shrill.

Does anyone have any suggestions for silencing my hard disk - or any opinions on the performance of devices like the SCSI2SD card?  Will such a card even work with A/UX?  Assuming it does work, will it degrade performance vs. a real hard disk at all?

SCSI2SD will be faster (Solid State SD card) and should work fine with A/UX.

There's a compatibility list Here.

If it doesn't work, I'm sure the dev would be able to work with you to get it working.
