| 2 AirPorts |
Posted by: TheMacGuy on 2013-01-18 13:32:40 Yes, I bought 2 AirPorts. I like telling people that because it sounds like I bought 2 airports when I in fact bought 2 AirPort Base Stations!
About a week ago, I placed a bid on an AirPort Extreme 802.11b 54Mbps (UFO style) so I could finally get my Macs online via Wi-Fi and could stop moving an AirPort Express around. It finally came today, shipped in the original box with the label on it (I didn't know he had it). I was so mad. I was able to salvage the box, but it is now slightly stained. The base station looks used, but nothing too serious. Came with used (but original) power cord, original (new) phone cable, unopened documentation, and unused mounting bracket with screws.
A few minutes after winning that one, I found an original graphite AirPort Base Station the looks practically brand new. Comes with all the accessories, and box. It was a Buy it Now, so I got it. I contacted the guy about saving the box and it should arrive safe and sound in another box by the beginning of the week!

Posted by: TheMacGuy on 2013-01-18 18:19:09 Because my current network with attached hard drives is set up with WPA2 for security purposes, and the older Macs have greater compatibility with the older Base Station.
The 54Mbps Extreme will be in use every day for the older Macs, but the graphite is purely for collectable purposes.

Posted by: waynestewart on 2013-01-19 09:12:32 Good deal. About a week ago I was given an Airport Extreme base station. Plugged a hard drive into it and my computers at least as far back as 10.4 could see the HD. Haven't tried earlier systems yet. Seems to stream HD video fast enough for the Mini attached to my TV. Sadly it doesn't recognize software RAIDed drives but will recognize more than 1 drive on a USB hub.

Posted by: TheMacGuy on 2013-01-20 17:42:54 Graphite came in yesterday. I swear it looks brand new. The guy sent 2 reg. cards, so I'm thinking about sending 1 in to Apple. I'm wondering if Apple might honor it and send me 6 issues of MacWorld! That would be cool!
