| g3 b&w running 8.6, how to get 1440x900? |
Posted by: markyb86 on 2013-01-08 19:03:21 Is it possible to hack the avaliable display modes to add my monitors native resolution of 1440x900 in os 8.6?
I may just need the ati driver for this card, but It seems like it was supported by default. (ATI Rage Theater)

Posted by: ClassicHasClass on 2013-01-08 22:28:52 I dunno about 8.6, but my MDD running 9.2.2 (the one I develop Classilla on) does 1920x1080 without any specific drivers.

Posted by: markyb86 on 2013-01-09 06:22:44 Oops... didn't see I put "6.6" but luckily you all knew what I meant.
I was searching far and wide last night but I cannot find a source for anything. A few sites link to ATI drivers but all the links are dead.
I think what I need is an apple supplied OpenGL package "1.01" but I cannot track it down.

I have a B&W G3 (also 8.6) with an original Radeon card. For whatever reason the latest drivers give me a slightly wrong resolution that is 8 pixels wider than the monitor's native resolution. But the original Radeon Mac retail drivers from that site work great. I am using 1440x900 over DVI. But I believe as long as your monitor has proper DDC and your card can read it you should be able to do that with analog VGA as well.

Posted by: markyb86 on 2013-01-31 17:40:46 ok, I have the 1.1.1 drivers and the latest openGL but still cant hit that resolution :-(
might have to find the card that belongs in this machine... this Theater card is just too weird I guess.

Posted by: Bunsen on 2013-02-02 02:16:23 There's a resedit hack for running a specific PCI video card at arbitrary resolutions which someone posted here - in an 8500 under OS 8.something I think. Search?

Posted by: ClassicHasClass on 2013-02-02 10:21:33 I think that was noidentity. You could try PMing him, but I don't know if he comes here still.

Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2013-02-02 14:53:12 I could only get 512 x 384 outta' my G3 under 6.6, IIRC . . .
. . . so I'm watching this one with interest.
< . . . fixed! 😱) >
