This kit from microcenter for 21 bucks would have every cap you need, and enough quantity of each.

Now we're talking! I've got two Luggables to recap.

You're doing these graphics almost faster than I can link them, great work and nicely done, comrade.

There are a couple of tweaks to the graphic/info formatting for the overall project I'm thinking about, I'll be in touch.

Thread linked: Capacitor Replacement Thread . . .

I didn't know this was something people were interested in. If so, I'll start documenting capacitor values every time I redo a machine.

Please do. I would have sent mine to you but sending to him was a two way benefit.

Well so far your portable board is a star, i used it to make the post. 🙂

I just ordered a couple reels from mouser, i will probably have all these done soon.

Mcdermd is a great dude, If anything happens to me I would like my entire collection to go to him. ( seriously )

The portable booted? Are you serious?! That rocks!!!! Omg hopefully the screen isn't an issue when I get the board back. I'm so stoked you have no idea. Thank you is all I can say and I hope it's understood I really mean that.

But if you do pass lol ( don't btw ) then make sure the CC comes home 😉

This is really great, Uniserver! Thank you!

Is it just me or are there a bunch of new avatars?

Uniserver - Is the one shown in the graphic a backlit or non-backlit board?

(is there a difference?)

Posted by: uniserver on 2012-12-27 21:50:30
that is a good question!

This LB belongs to macdrone, maybe he can shed some light on this subject? 🙂

Posted by: Macdrone on 2012-12-28 02:04:35
That board is non back lit but the motherboards are exactly the same. The non backlit can be upgraded to backlit as they had a kit for it. The kit was a backlight for the lcd (of course) , a new cable to go to screen and the backlight and inverter board I think they called it.

Getting ready to link photo from flikr. The mac prtable recap was a success!!!. booted to error from hard drive, said disk tools could repair, put in 7.5 floppy let it repair, said no errors lol. It did rebuild the desktop tho and on restart a nice clean system 6.0.7 with word on it. Has after dark which on a 68000 cant even do one toaster smoothly lol. Sound is great which is refreshing, would love a backlight kit but I am soooo happy to have this working.

Oh and by the way thank you Uniserver!!!

looking good my friend! 🙂

So a backlight bar/inverter from something like a 190 might be retrofitted to a DimWit Luggable? }🙂

Posted by: Macdrone on 2013-01-03 21:19:05
The backlight could possibly but the inverter no, different video cable to board totally. That would take some hacking. Actually the screen is smaller than a 190 I think so that's a no go.
