Scripting in A/UX?
Posted by: beachycove on 2012-11-21 17:31:33
What scripting languages were, are, or theoretically could be compiled and installed in A/UX? Applescript is impossible. What about Perl, Python, etc?

Perl & bash were ported to A/UX...

You can script in any shell language. Keep in mind, though, that A/UX's /bin/sh is very bad. I'm of the opinion that anyone using A/UX ought to move it to /bin/sh.orig, and make /bin/sh a symlink to /bin/ksh. And as scott said, there's an old version of Perl available too. In addition to the old bash from the jagubox archive, the FAQ notes that versions 2 and 3 available too, though you may have to hunt as the original links weren't working when I checked.

I still think you're crazy for scripting in C shell. 😉
