| Finding the hacked 8600 video capture; from German hacker? |
Posted by: deltroid on 2015-09-11 16:06:21 Need help finding the driver/hack to enable a powermac 8600 to capture video at higher fps: think it was 30fps at I believe it was 640x480? I remember a german person hacked a file or something to enable what I previously mentioned. If someone know what I'm talking about and can help me find it I would appreciate it. I have a aftermarket scsi card with a 160gb scsi drive and 4mb vram;with a radeon 7000 pci card with dvi to help. Thanks

Apple's software may limit it to lower resolutions though. Not surprising as a stock PPC from that era doesn't have a fast enough CPU or storage subsystem to handle full frame SD video.

Even on a beige G3 it's 320x240 @ 15FPS.
If you want a 720x576 @ 29.97 or 25fps with 16bit @ 48 or 24 Khz audio, you should buy my Canopus ADVC1394 PCI card.
It does native capture in DV format so it's 12Gb/Hour... thus very few Mb/s & very low CPU.
