I managed to swap the video card and everything works great now, but there are some issues that are causing me to wonder at the stability of this girl.
•I have successfully installed 10.4 on an 80gig drive with jumpers set as MASTER, all updates have been completed. She boots flawlessly when the 80GB is the only drive attached, when I try to boot with any of the other drives I found with her (all 120GB drives) she either never gets passed the Grey boot screen or she shows a flashing OS 9 system folder icon. Holding option at startup seems to be no help as the 80GB will not show up there when any other drive is attached. I removed the jumpers from both 120GB drives and then tried having them set as slaves. No joy either way.
• When she is asleep the PSU fan will start spinning at regular intervals. The computer wont actually rouse from sleep, but the fan is annoying. I have found this happening EVEN WHEN THE COMPUTER IS OFF. Is the PSU damaged?
| Posted by: ClassicHasClass on 2012-10-19 08:11:28 Maybe not the PSU, but possibly the *PMU*. Have you reset that?
The other issue makes me wonder about a controller problem, but I would definitely reset the PMU and PRAM before I did anything else (and make sure the PRAM battery is good, natch).
