iBook stuck in Linux
Posted by: BlastoiseBlue on 2012-09-20 18:44:15
So I got an iBook G4 a few weeks ago, and out of curiosity I installed Lubuntu PPC 12.04 on it. I got past the wireless card issues that come with the operating system, but I can't get sound to work... Any suggestions? I don't have any OSX 10.4 cds nor do I have the money to buy any... I have a 10.1 install CD over in California, but I won't be going back over there until christmas, and even then OS 10.1 is practically useless. :c

So does anyone here know how I can get the audio working in Linux, or maybe another distro built specifically for iBooks? :c

Here we go, found the solution on the PowerPCFAQ page. 😉

As far as i can remember, sound is supported by ALSA in Linux:

Not an easy issue.

Thanks all! I actually finally got 10.4 install discs from a friend, but they're bootlegged... Oh well, whatever works! I think it's for an eMac or something because it wanted a mouse in the installer but as soon as I installed the updates all was good. :3
