Copy Protected Apple II Programs - Copy II Plus?
Posted by: maceffects on 2012-08-25 21:44:56
I have several Apple II games I want to copy most have no issues but the 'big name' games always give errors on every part of the copy, so I assume its copy protecting, I have Copy II Plus 9.1 (newest version), I heard you can do 'bit copy' but I don't know how to use that if thats even what I am suppose to use.

Any advice would be great.

Copy II Plus is an excellent program. To do a bit copy, the easiest way, just boot it up, select copy, select Bit Copy 5.25, then press 6 for slot 6, then either scroll down to Manual Bit Copy and press return or just press B. Then just press return until you see Insert diskettes at the bottom of the screen, if you have two drives, and make sure you have the original in drive 1 and the disk you want it copied to in drive 2 and press return. Hopefully it will copy the program without any trouble.

Alternatively you can select Auto Copy, type in the name of the program you want to copy, insert the Copy II disk with the parameters on it and if it has info on the program you want to copy it will load that into memory and use it to make a copy of your program.

Only method I know of costs about $100.

And then, I don't know if when you convert the raw stream into an Apple II image if it'll work. You can at least make copies of a disk, copy protection and all.
