howto update system 7.0.1?
Posted by: antonio66 on 2012-08-24 12:03:08 Hej, I know, it's a newbie question. But I need help :I I 've an old Mac LC and try to install german system 7.0.1; ok, great, it works. AND I've a SCSI-CD working/available. I tried to follow-up the instructions given by Tyler in his homepage at http://www.fenestrated.net/~macman/mac/701.html . BUT, I cannot open the .sea-files or maybe .sit : system tells something like "programm not found..." I suppose it is the missing stuffit expander(?). OR I've some formatting-trouble by copy the files in windows with hfvexplorer to disk and system 7 won't identify them... I've tried to burn a CD under OS 10.4.11 as hfs, but it won't be identified by system 7... :'( Argh, what should I do? Does linux help to copy files the right way/format? thx antonio
Posted by: antonio66 on 2012-08-25 10:01:12 ok, it's done. ;D I expand most files with OS 10.4.11, open a image, put the files in and burn them with "HD-Serviceprogram" (don't know the right name for it). The problem were the compressed files, everyone use another method and/or Mac-program to do it and system 7.0.1 had some difficulties with it. Webserver (MacHTTP) is working fine and next time (I hope) online . Next step is to setup vnc on the server...

And the correct web-address for the server is: http://mac-lc.dyndns-server.com:8080 Hm, at moment there seems to be a problem with dyndns or my router has problems to handle http-requests for 2 server behind... tbc
