I also have one. I kept that one, a 600mhz and a tray loading. All the ones I kept out of likely close to 100 I got for free. Oops, another, I think a 500mhz on loan to a friend that he uses whenever his PCs get virused. Really should replace that with a G4 or G5 iMac sometimes. The 350 - 500 you saw all over the place. 600mhz rarely, 700 almost never.

do you find it preforms quite well?

is there some situations where you would want a 700mhz g3 over the 700mhz g4?

It seemed reasonably fast the last time I booted it 5 or 6 years ago.

yeah mcdermd has all the COOL STUFF!

so fun fact,

350 to 500mhz in the G3 iMac, Apple used Motorola G3 CPU's,

the 600 and 700 mhz iMac used those IBM low power CPU's

Does anyone have an opinion on the performance of this IBM CPU?

Mine is not good, in 07 i acquired (2) 600 mhz iMac's

and they both seemed slower then the 500mhz iMac's

The GUI seemed snappier with the 500mhz over the 600mhz iMac with the new IBM cpu in it.

and the 500mhz iMac seemed to boot faster.
