| ANS Power Supplies |
Posted by: CelGen on 2012-07-09 13:50:14 I got a call that another ANS had shown up at a local recycler however it had already been processed (which sucked as I needed drive sleds and a key tumbler).
What I was however able to salvage though were the two power supplies.

Took a bit of shaking to get the fan screws out. The enclosures are riveted together. I replaced the nuts and bolts with the self-threading fan screws you find on PC power supplies. Now all three of my Apple Network servers have the redundant power supply option active.

Posted by: CelGen on 2012-07-10 19:47:53 I swear I mentioned them here when I got them.

They all work and they came with the AIX install CD and RAID config diskette. All I'm missing is four drive sleds/blanking plates and a key tumbler.

Posted by: ClassicHasClass on 2012-07-10 21:54:17 Very nice. I can't tell from the image: 500 or 700?
stockholm (r.i.p.) was a 500, but it had a 1MB cache stolen from a 700, plus the 200MHz 604e card, DDS-2 DAT and the ANS-specific 10/100 NIC. I do have the RAID card (I bought a NOS unit from Shreve Systems when they were blowing them out) but never got around to putting it in. It ran my heavily patched version of 4.1.5 up until the end. It'll be resurrected, but right now it's the backup server in case uppsala goes down. The 700 mostly sits in the closet; it never got much use.
Btw, even the "blank" sleds are still sleds; they just don't have the mezzanine interconnect piece ("mezz board").

Posted by: krye on 2012-07-11 06:23:02 Jeez those things are huge! I've seen pics of them, but never next to a person. I guess I never realized how big they were. I want one as a printer stand for my Laser!

Posted by: CelGen on 2012-07-11 19:47:30 500/132, 700/150 and 700/200. One has the RAID card, another has the ethernet NIC. They all came with a minimum of 256mb ram and a CD drive but only two had DAT drives.
