Mac SE dual floppy
Posted by: Juror22 on 2012-06-23 21:51:35
I have a few compact macs, but I saw a dual floppy SE on eBay and without too much thought, bid the .99 it was started at. Shipping added quite a bit more, but it looked like it came with an external hard drive and a keyboard, so when I won it, I expected to get little more than a bare bones machine, but it was a little bit better than I expected.

It arrived with a Cutting Edge external 80 MB HD (no cable , it uses db25 connectors, not the centronics 50 that most external drives of that era seem to take) still need work up a cable to test it.

The best part was the internal 30MB drive that I found , when I opened it up. It also came with a programmers switch, system 6. 01 and 1MB of memory. It boots fine. I'll probably bump up the memory a bit, but it is nice, having An earlier system.

it uses db25 connectors
So do SCSI Zip drives - if you can find a Zip cable, that should work.

I have posted some pics, sorry it took a while, the iphone 3g images that I originally took were awful and I had to take others with my camera.

The pictures are of:

1 & 2 The SE with the case off (memory upgrade already installed) showing the internal HD - it is REALLY clean inside, other than an odd patina on the frame.

3, 4 & 5 The Cutting Edge HD with the case open, the clear panel with the terminator resistors, and from the back, showing the connectors.
