| Totally awesome Apple II joysticks |
Posted by: olePigeon on 2012-06-11 15:32:43 I used to think that the CH Mach 3 and original Apple joysticks were the best of the best for the Apple II. Oh boy. I just stumbled upon a pair of these "Standard" joysticks, and they are unbelievably cool. Textured arcade joystick, 2 arcade buttons, 2 smooth action metal H+V adjustments, and autofire toggles with LEDs! How cool is that?! Thick metal box with suction cups on the bottom. 😀
It's awesome using it playing Conan and LodeRunner. I'm trying to think of which games might benefit from the autofire. Maybe Spyhunter and RescueRaiders? 🙂

Posted by: olePigeon on 2012-06-11 16:10:43 The dials adjust the horizontal and vertical alignment. Many games on the Apple II didn't know how to auto-calibrate the joystick, so you have to do it manually. On my normal joysticks, there're 2 plastic nobs that you rotate. On these, they're really nice metal dials. 🙂
The LEDs indicate which button has auto-fire turned on. 😀 If you look closely, you'll see that below the LEDs are 2 toggle switches.

Posted by: Scott Baret on 2012-06-12 07:37:53 Just to verify--that's for the standard joystick port on the back of the II, right?
I've never seen anything like these!!! I'm not even much of a joystick kind of guy and I'm finding myself floored!!!
