| Problems with a G4 1.5ghz 15" Powerbook |
Posted by: Unknown_K on 2015-08-20 12:22:57 Just got in a G4 15" 1.5ghz Powerbook the owner said just quit turning on. It boots up just fine for me (65w aftermarket power brick).
The unit looks pretty much new, no dings at all. The problem I have is the battery does not charge, first low level warning No, and shows 0 cycle count (think its the original battery). Also the optical drive doesn't show up under disk burning and it spits out all the CDs I try to insert. Any idea? I did the PMU reset (removed the battery, power cord, held the start button in for 15 seconds) and that didn't help with the battery.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2015-10-07 20:32:19 No problem. Have a complete 1.5ghz model and a 1.67ghz model 15.2" now. Figure I might as well finish up my G3/G4 laptop collection now with prices being so low.

Posted by: mraroid on 2016-03-22 07:58:20 If you have the OS DVD for the OS on your computer, you can try this:
1) Load the DVD
2) reboot, and hold down the C key.
3) this will boot to your DVD
4) after the welcome screen loads, look for selection on the top of your screen. Select (can't remember the exact name) disk tools.
5) select your hard drive, and run permission repair. After that, run disk repair.
6) reboot. After you boot to your OS, drag the DVD icon to your trash to eject the disk....
May not help, but it can't hurt anything.
