Double mouse button support on old games
Posted by: Dimitris1980 on 2012-05-10 22:34:53
I would like to ask if the old games especially adventures like Monkey Island, Larry, Rise of the Dragon etc. support double mouse button on Mac with Mac OS 7.6 or 8.1 (these are the operation systems that i have installed on my performa 6116). For instance on dos you could change the icon (look, action, talk etc.) on Larry 5 with the right click.

Do you have such a mouse? It's unusual to find a pre-USB mouse that has actual separate buttons that don't do the same thing. I think it could work if the mouse comes with a driver that maps the extra button(s) to keystrokes, but it's doubtful that your old apps will support it directly.

I have found an adb double mouse button on ebay but if the right click do the same job as the left click then i don't want it. I guess i will buy a macally adb mouse with one button.

I have an old ADB Logitech 3 button mouse. How would I go about mapping them to different things?

theos911: Download MouseKey 1.1 from here, I think that's what you want.

Dimitris1980: I have a 2-button ADB mouse that does a click-hold / click-release for the second button, so it's pretty much still a 1-button mouse. There probably are some with working extra buttons, like the Logitech MouseMan, but they will need a piece of software to use the extra buttons. Have a look around and on the website above. You will probably find one if you really want one. I was under the impression that it was possible to use a serial mouse with a Mac - I remember an old control panel that claimed to enable serial mice. You would presumably need some sort of adapter. That might be a way to get a second button.

My mouse is indeed a Logitech MouseMan. I will try that software later. Thanks
