Playing DOOM on an SE/30

I tried it the other night... it worked. Specs are '030 @ 50MHz and Micron Xceed internal gray-scale. There are two video modes, large and small. In small mode, the refresh rate was fine and usable, but in large mode, the frame rate dropped significantly. The graphics aren't really optimized for grayscale mode though. Sound played fine.

You can find an official demo copy here: ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/doom/mac/

i wonder how it would run with a Mac IIsi, onboard video,

i'd also like to try it with my q605,

It's playable, but only barely so, on my IIci with 50MHz Daystar and the screen size cranked way down. I think your IIsi would be just a slide slow.

I hear it is rather better on an '040, but the Q605 has an LC040, so I don't know about that. Most of its math is primarily integer, though, so it might be okay.

It’s been 14 years so maybe this thread is due for an update. This was one of the few threads or pages in my search results when I started this project and thought he maybe others will come across it.
I posted my own port of doom specifically for the SE/30 earlier today.

Primary discussion thread over here and the git repo is over here.
There I have posted the .sit with the binary for those who don’t want to bother compiling and building themselves, down in the “Releases” page. I welcome all feedback but prefer to hear back in the tinkerdifferent thread I posted above.
Really hope it makes some SE/30 dreams or mac Doom dreams come true.
