| 17" Powerbook G4 1.67 GHz |
Posted by: Theretrogamingroom on 2012-04-21 14:54:25 I just scored a 17" Powerbook G4 running Leopard with the following specs off of eBay:
1.67 Ghz
100 GB HD
2 GB Ram
Superdrive
It also came with an AC Adapter and a nice carrying case.
Price: $272 with shipping (Probably too high, but I sold my Dell Laptop and needed a replacement).
I can't wait for it to come!

Posted by: spiceyokooko on 2012-04-22 04:58:25 Apple made two G4 17 inch 1.67Mhz Powerbooks - one's a higher spec than the other and tends to be more sought after than the other and consequently goes for a higher price. The difference between them is principally a higher native screen resolution - 1680 x 1050 as opposed to 1440 x 900, a double/dual layer superdrive and uses faster RAM.
The fact yours comes with a 100Gb HD suggests it's the lower spec of the two as the higher spec one came with a 120Gb HD. Check the model numbers - the high spec one is A1139/Powerbook 5,9 and the lower spec one A1107/Powerbook 5,7.
Cheers

Posted by: Theretrogamingroom on 2012-04-22 08:56:09 It is the lower spec version. I haven't seen any Powerbooks with the better screen recently, although it would be nice to get.

I used to have a 1.5GHz 15" Powerbook G4. It was a pretty good machine. I gave it to friend a few years ago. He still uses it.

Posted by: bd1308 on 2012-04-25 19:31:54 I have one of those paid $400 for it. I traded a 12 inch 1.33 for a 15 inch 1.67 for $200. Love them both, but gave my mom the 17 inch one to get my TiBook back so I could run OS9 again

Posted by: Theretrogamingroom on 2012-05-08 19:21:26 I got it in the mail yesterday and am loving it! Turns out the LCD is actually the High Resolution one @ 1680x1050. It appears that the screen was replaced, as the model number matches the lower spec Powerbook, but that doesn't matter much, as I am very pleased with this computer and plan on keeping it for a long time!

Posted by: Cosmo on 2012-05-09 02:47:15 That's a nice machine!
I bought one new (old stock) back in summer 2007 but sold it after few weeks, i felt the screen was too large and saved up for Macbook 13".
Such a beautiful machine and with 2GB RAM it's still quite useable.
