| Books: Inside Macintosh |
Posted by: Cosmo on 2012-04-04 21:15:15 I saw volumes I to VI (Vol. III missing?) of "Inside Macintosh" programming books at auction site for few €'s. Are those any good, i mean, i know some C++ but these are ancient. Anyone has these, possibly worth picking up?

Posted by: Cosmo on 2012-04-05 08:18:20 Thanks for the links, i was aware of the pdf already and might have the CD as well somewhere. Those books are quite thick, 6 cm. Let's see if nothing else come around i might bid on those.

Posted by: Dog Cow on 2012-04-05 10:50:16 All of the programming examples and Toolbox calls are in Pascal. There is also some coverage of how to access the Toolbox from assembly.
Be aware that the original 3 volumes get quickly out of date when you start programming on anything newer than a 68000 Mac. For example, the only filesystem described is MFS.

Posted by: Mk.558 on 2012-04-09 19:10:13 How does the Inside Macintosh work? One volume for every chipset? or "set" per model?
It'd be nice to have one that covers the SE/30. How far "up" does the IM volume go to...all the way up to the PPC models pretty much 68K only?
