Keyboard cable for 512K Mac
Posted by: bom.cabedal on 2015-08-12 06:10:29
Hi everyone,

Tomorrow, I'm going to pick up a (non-upgraded) 512K Mac that someone needed to get rid of (fine with me). It is a good-looking machine, and still works. There are two parts failing, however: the mouse (which can still be had off eBay) and the phone-style keyboard cable. I have some difficulty tracking the latter; can anyone here offer advice on where to get a specimen?

You can make one,

1. Get a curly phone cable

2. order a 4p4c connector and get a crimper

3. You need to cut off one end and rewire it so that one side is wired opposite of the other or you will damage the computer or the keyboard.

If you are unable to do this I can make you one for 20$

Cheers,

Josh

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep that in mind. But ideally I'd like to have a used, original one.

Cheers,

Ilja

Just to let you know the end of this saga: I found someone willing to trade their keyboard cable against a deceased Classic II, so I'm saved.
