Intel Xserve
Posted by: Theretrogamingroom on 2012-03-09 20:19:35
I decided to buy an Xserve for a website that I am creating. The Xserve has two main purposes which are to, well, act as a server, as well as become an addition to my collection.

Here are the specs:

(2) Dual Core Intel Xeon Processors at 2.0 GHz,

(2) Hot Swappable 80GB Hard Drives

4GB of Ram

RAID Card

Dual PSU's

This cost $276 plus shipping which, although is probably pricey (I'm not good at deciding what a good price would be), I am happy with it.

Hopefully, I will be able to put this to good use and the website will be a success.

Congrats and good luck on the site!

I haven't been watching Xserve prices, so I have no idea on price either. Cheaper than a Mac Pro with similar power, last time I checked...that's for sure.

That's a good choise!

Xserve's are just so cool. Always wanted one, but probl. not for running anything, they're quite noisy to run at corner of the living room  probl. get one when such oppurtinity comes around.

As far as price, I scored a DP 2.3 G5 for $100. Never been used (still have the box) and came loaded with a 80G and 2 500G drives. The megaraid card is utter crap, and since I already have a SuperI7XenMonster server, I dont need RAID for the Xserve. I'm really looking for one of those small SATA bundle doo-hickeys but thats for another day
