Date/Time jumping around on PowerBook 160/165

I have a weird issue with my Powerbooks 160 and 165: I can't set the time and date anymore. As soon as I leave the date/time Control panel, the date/time immediately jumps around. It may jump ahead half an hour, jump ahead a week, jump behind by 50 years, you name it.

Each time an application is opened it does it. Or it does it on its own every 60 seconds.

These powerbooks have a rebuild main battery and also replaced Pram battery: both of these test well.

I have reset the PRAM by leaving it without Power for 10 minutes and then holding down both reset and interrupt buttons for 60 seconds to no avail (in-line with http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1781)

In my spare parts, I had 3 other Powerbook 160/165 logic boards and they all have the same problem

Only my powerbook 165c doesn't show the problem (yet) so I replaced the logic board with the 5 faulty one's and the problem could be replicated there, so it's definately the logic board and not a power/pram/software issue.

I guess the Real time clock is not longer working, which is weird as before the spare logic boards went into storage, they all worked well.

My hopes aren't great this still can be fixed. Any idea's ? I can't spot the RTC chip on the logic board, likely it is integrated in one of the VIA chips so not replaceable.

I would like to find out if this is wide spread problem so who else has this problem with a Powerbook 160/165/165c ?

One day I booted my 160 up and it had this issue, I may still have a vid somewhere.

In my case it was rectified by rebooting. But I have never seen or heard of it before so I do not know how to replicate it or anything.

As such, I do not have any suggestions about how to fix it.

Same here with a PB 180c. 

Apple Diagnostics app found a Logic Board problem so I replaced the complete lower part of the PowerBook, but with same results. Everything else is working fine.

My second  PB 180c doesn't show this problem. 

I solved this problem some years ago by replacing the interconnect board, but not this time, as I don't have a second one. 

My second PB 180c has a newer chinese replacement main battery, which is still loading fine. 

Now I try to load the Pram battery on the interconnect board with this working main battery and we'll see if this works.
