I gave it to a friend for christmas because he just had a Color classic upgraded with an LC 575 logic board and I though he would appreciate it and the Apple IIe PDS card I also got him.
Unfortunately after Mac OS 7.6.1 was installed, we tried to connect to the internet and we couldn't use the card because.....it couldn't get its MAC address. :?:
I have NEVER seen this before. Ever. I thought this was stored in ROM on the card. If that is the case, it's rather impossible for the card to lose its MAC address which makes it completely useless.
Is there some sort of bug I'm not aware of for 7.6 and Comm slot ethernet adapters in the 575?
| Posted by: Anonymous Freak on 2012-01-12 17:34:05 I've seen that plenty in newer boards where the MAC is in flash memory, but not in an old board. (They're usually in EEPROMs on old boards, not in true hard ROM.)
(Heck, I still have a stash of 10 unused MAC addresses sitting around in a text file somewhere, and an network chip reprogramming utility......)
