quick iBook G3/900 question
Posted by: reekdaddy on 2011-12-05 12:57:32
(maybe we should open up a megathread for small questions like this around here?)

i've been struck by G3 fever! after refurbishing and giving my love and care to many a PowerBook G3, i've started acquiring more G3's. of course, the prospect of having a 750fx G3 clocked at almost 3x the speed of my last PBG3 is extremely tempting (even moreso because I think the translucent white iBook G3's were my favorite Macs ever!)

Right now my Pismo has 1GB of RAM. Can you stuff that much in a iBook G3/800 or 900, or is 640MB the absolute limit?

640 is the max on those. 512MB in the slot plus 128 onboard. I think they use PC100.

ahh, i forgot about the onboard RAM! i'm sure the clock speed will make up for it.
