Performa 575 PRAM battery connector (and question)
Posted by: mraroid on 2015-07-25 16:10:18
Hi folks....

Can someone point me to a link to buy the correct PRAM battery connector for a Performa 575?  I am looking for the connector that connects the PRAM battery to the logic board.  Or, if you happen to have one for sale (with wires or wires and a dead battery) that would be cool.

One more question....

Can someone tell me the mAh rating of the original PRAM battery?  I would like to build or buy a PRAM battery that is rated at a higher mAh rating than the original.

Thanks in advance!

The Ray-o-vac 840 I removed was 800mAh at 4.5v. It had three rectangular 1.5v alkaline cells in it. 3 alkaline AAA batteries in a holder would make a suitable replacement- I would be inclined to place/install this outside of the computer as forgotten alkaline cells just love to leak.

The Rayovac 840 uses a 3p2c (3-Positions, 2-Contacts) pin header connector, with the leads connected on the two outermost contacts. It could also be described as a 4-position connector, but there's plastic filled into one of the holes so not really.

This should work for you:

Just be careful with the polarity. Also, be sure to get the crimps that go into it as well: http://www.ebay.com/itm/141446678863

Unless you are going for a truly authentic look, just buy this and some AAA batteries.

That's what I did, although just I snipped & soldered the old connector to my new battery pack. I didn't know someone was selling them though!
