| Media 100 "Suite Deal" package (or most of it) |
Posted by: CelGen on 2011-10-09 00:10:59 First off, that was an awful pun. 😛
I received a tip of it appearing at a local shop and investigated. The haul is pictured below:

Media 100 info can be found here.
I see the two cards, most of the documentation (which oddly I can't all fit into the carton), and there were three floppy disks found between the pages in some of the books and that's it. Unfortunately I am missing the main break out box. It looks identical to the PCI version that I own but the NuBus one uses two connectors instead of one massive connector.

I'm told I can find it back at the shop however it's been processed and it's sitting at the bottom of one of the five large recycling bags. Getting it would be preferrable however without the cable still attached (it's removed to be recycled separately) there isn't much of a point to waste an hour or so sifting through E-waste. At least I have at least two dongles. Does anyone else have a spare box handy?
I'm curious to see how it compares to the Radius Telecast and the PCI Media 100.
Edit: That page is awesome. There's the pinout for the cards.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2011-10-09 10:44:38 I have the Nubus setup (2 actually one has a damaged card), it is decent editing gear. Mine is installed in a Radius 81/110.
The software you need comes on a CD, the last Nubus version also works on the original PCI version. I wonder if the software boxes you have originally came with the PCI version? When this kind of stuff hits the recycler a few versions (if the original owners kept upgrading) get mixed in together.
Without the breakout box you can't realy do much with it. They do come up for sale once in a while. If you find a breakout box and need the software install CD let me know. You need dongles to get this thing to work , there is the full deal one and a basic one with optional dongles you daisy chain.

Posted by: CelGen on 2011-10-09 11:17:44 Suprisingly my friend found out you can get the software right off Media 100.
He poked around their site and found the ISO's for the discs in an unsecured downloads directory which is normally reserved for the Customer Support division to send replacement files off to customers. I won't post the link here through for obvious reasons.
In terms of spped unfortunately all I have are my Quadra 950's so I'm stuck to 33mhz.

Posted by: Bunsen on 2011-10-09 12:35:27 I would suggest rescuing the BoB and cable if you can. It can be a long wait to find them on evilbay.

Posted by: CelGen on 2011-10-09 18:15:12 I'll see what bribing I can do. Normally when something is dumped into these bags thyey are not emptied out again because there's all sorts of nasty things in the bags like broken glass.
