| iBook G4 ADC Display? |
Posted by: bittin on 2011-09-14 03:51:50 Hello, i got an iBook G4 and got a Apple Studio Display with ADC from a friend, what converters do i need for connecting the screen to the mini VGA port on the laptop? or should i buy another screen and a VGA to Mini VGA converter instead?

Secondly you'll need to find some way of converting the iBook's VGA signal to DVI...while I seem to recall that there are VGA -> DVI converter boxes, they are neither cheap nor easily available. You'd be much better off just buying a cheap VGA LCD.

If you had a PowerBook G4 or MacBook that had mini DVI instead, the DVIator might be worth the cost, but to pay for both that and a VGA-to-DVI converter? The V-to-D converters are *NOT* cheap...

Not simple, nor easily reversible. I tend to agree - get another VGA LCD for the iBook, and save the ADC monitor for an ADC Mac. Given how everything is moving to DVI and HDMI now, you should be able to pick up a decent VGA-only LCD for next to nothing.

Posted by: Bunsen on 2011-09-17 01:22:23 No, it won't. It would have to be connected to a VGA to DVI converter, and as mentioned, they are not cheap. For starters, VGA is analogue, and DVI is digital, so the converter would have to contain an expensive analogue to digital converter or three.
