Screen problems on my PowerBook Duo 2300c

Posted by: puckman on 2011-09-03 20:08:41 My PB Dueo 2300c was working perfectly back in the UK, I packed it to be shipped to Japan and once here I found that the display is all garbled. The machine still works as I can see the OS starting, mouse moving etc, but graphics are scrambled. Anyone got any suggestions? This was one of my collection that I still used, gutted!

But I'll usually tear a machine down and then reconnect all the components just to make sure they're all seated properly or if the connections need to be cycled or "erased" co clear any crud off the flex circuit cables as a first step. Things tend to work more to spec if all the connections are right and moving is one sure fire way of jiggling something or other loose!

Posted by: J English Smith on 2011-09-04 12:32:44 I have a PB 1400 that is prone to this, and the cause on that machine is a crimped screen cable. Try gently flexing the display to max tilt for the hinge, then come back towards perpendicular from the keyboard. You may find the problem relieves itself. I always have to remind myself when this one unit does it that that is the cause. Good luck, worth a shot. The 2300 is a great little PB.

Then I thought, lets plug in the dock and an external screen, just to see if it was the screen or the logic board..... Video fine, from both internal and external screen, go figure. Going to unplug and test now 😛
