Scored a Rev B '99 Bondi Blue iMac for free!

My landlord gave me this original Rev B Bondi Blue iMac G3. It's spotless. He had it sitting up in the attic and no longer had a use for it so he said I could have it. What a score!

The RAM was never upgraded past 96 Megs. The original OS 8 install was toast. I upgraded the hard drive and gave it a fresh OS 9.2 install. Once my RAM comes in from eBay it'll be maxed out and I'll throw OS X on there too.

The only this missing was the mouse so I ordered one from eBay. The seller said it was a bondi blue iMac mouse and when I go it in, it was a M4848. It was disgustingly dirty so I took the whole thing apart to clean it. During reassembly, I broke off the little piece of plastic that contacts the mouse button underneath. I attempted to put a small dab of Krazy Glue on it, but it ate right threw the plastic. What a mess. So I ordered a new one.

I just got the new one in the mail, and although it is a M4848, the color is obviously different. The logic boards are two different colors too, as well as the sticker underneath.

Was there a difference between the mice from Rev A to Rev B? Or is the first one I got "blueberry". I can't tell since I've never seen "blueberry" in person.

The mouse on the right is the one I got today and I'd have to say that it's a closer match to the iMac. So I guess the one on the left that I got previously is "blueberry"?

The one on the left looks to be blueberry, right looks bondi - it's been a while, though. I used to have a pristine bondi and indigo, wish I still had them. :'( I have a much more powerful eMac now, but the shiny white just doesn't have the same character!

Thanks.

I thought it was blueberry. If I hadn't broken it, I just might have a good mind to complain to the guy he sent me the wrong color!

In the bottom comparison picture, the one on the left matches the back of the G4 PowerMacs, the one on right matches the back of the G3 PowerMacs so I think jududdar would be correct by the timeline alone.

I scored another 256 Mb of RAM from eBay and managed to upgrade the iMac to OS X 10.2.

I wanted to put the iMac in the corner of the credenzas, but obviously, the table is too short. So I ran to Home Depot and got some wood cut. I hammered together a box to give it a 10" lift.

The table looks like it was made for those credenzas. It matches the trim nicely.
