Conquest One: iPod mini

Posted by: iMac600 on 2011-05-24 19:04:25 Well, an iPod mini or two. Or three. Or four. An Australian eBay seller and IT Retailer in Sydney recently acquired a surplus of defective iPod minis. I'm not sure how, but given the fact none of them return estimated purchase dates and warranty expiration dates in Apple's Global Service Exchange parts ordering system, I wouldn't be surprised if they were defective units returned to Apple by resellers. In any case, I purchased four of these little guys for $9.75 each, a collective total of $39.00 AUD. From left to right: iPod mini (Green) 4GB Storage - Possible Dead Microdrive Dead Battery No Dents, One Tiny Scuff Mark - 9.7/10 Condition   iPod mini (Silver) 4GB Storage - Dead Microdrive Dead Battery Scuff Marks on Case - Minor dent in Top Right Corner   iPod mini (Silver) 4GB Storage - Working Microdrive Weak Battery Minor Scuff Marks on Case LCD Foam Gasket Unstuck - Partially Covering Display   iPod mini (Blue) 4GB Storage - Working Microdrive Weak Battery One Hardly Noticeable Scuff Mark - 9.5/10 Condition Click Wheel Cable may require reseating Two already good iPods there that just need batteries. The Green one sounds like a perfect candidate for a new battery and a Compact Flash conversion and the remaining silver one i'm still not sure about, may do the same. Finally, I say Conquest One because it's not the only item i've come across this week, the second of the two will be something that vintage collectors can probably relate to a little more than these, but i'll hold off telling what it is until it arrives.

Posted by: macman142 on 2011-05-25 02:15:01 Nice one. I bought five off the same seller, one of each colour of the 2nd gen 4GB and a 1st gen 4GB gold (just because he had one). Three out of my five only seem to need a battery too! I count them as a conquest, they're vintage to an extent...
