| MacOS X Server 1.2- Really neat OS |
Posted by: CompactMacLover on 2011-04-06 21:28:19 Dug a B&W G3 out of the closet tonight, and found my MacOS X Server 1.2 Installation disks, Dropped 256MB RAM in the Blue and White and installed it. Its amazing how powerful this server software is. Looks like it was the best of the best back in 99/2000. Whats really neat is Server 1.2 is basically NextStep/OpenStep with a Mac Menu Bar and then the NeXT workspace manager.. takes a bit to figure out.. but fun to play with.
Any of you guys mess with it.

The first developer preview of OS X looked almost identical (just minus the server components).

Posted by: PackingTape on 2011-04-08 08:36:34 I love the way this looks, compared to the candy of OS X. I wonder if there's a way to upgrade the internals of OS X server 1.2 while retaining its interface? Probably not though, I imagine someone would have figured it out by now...
