How do I install a Mockingboard on a IIgs?
Posted by: olePigeon on 2011-04-06 16:41:13
I bought a Mockingboard v1a and am super excited. However, the installation instructions are only for the Apple II, not the IIgs.

I'm a little perplexed as to where to plug the audio cable (if I should at all.) The IIgs has a Speaker port, but it's obviously hooked up to the internal speakers. So far I just took a slot cover off and ran the 3.5mm audio cable off the jack that's on the card to a set of speakers. Is that the way to do it?

OK, figured it out. The card has passthrough audio, so I disconnect the IIgs' internal speaker and plug the Mockingboard directly to the motherboard. Then I plug my speakers into the Mockingboard's 3.5mm jack and I'm good to go.

Someone should make a Mockingbird GS that combines a stereo card with a Mockingboard. I'd buy it.
