Thanks.
| Posted by: beachycove on 2011-03-30 14:01:00 You might conceivably get a Daystar Fastcache card (128k) to work via a Daystar Slotsaver adapter, which plugged into the CPU socket itself, but no guarantees on it working under A/UX, and good luck finding either one or the other of the two. The Fastcache did, however, definitely work in the 610 through this adapter under MacOS.
There may also have been a 610-to-68040-pds adapter (similar one — or is it the same one, i.e., are the 610 and 660av pds slots physically the same? — pictured here), but I am really not sure. If so, however, then the Fastcache card would fit it also — but then you use your 610 PDS slot.
In general, what you need to know is that A/UX does not co-operate well with accelerator cards other than the Pisces SCSI/cache card which only fits (physically) in a Quadra 950/AWS95 case, though it will work in any true 68040 pds slot like the one the Q950 has.
That's a bit confusing as put, but it's the best I can do in a rush.

... but then you use your 610 PDS slot. Looking back, that should read: "but then you lose your PDS slot." I needed to get on my way out the door at the time of writing.

| Posted by: Bunsen on 2011-04-02 09:42:21 Your other option would be to find a 610- compatible Quad Doubler upgrade with cache - that goes in the CPU socket and also gives you a faster '040.
| Posted by: beachycove on 2011-04-02 10:10:22 Didn't know the QuadDoubler had cache.... That would make one seriously worth getting.
