It is the 867mhz model. It has a Geforce 2 32mb , 512mb ram and a 60gb harddrive. Pretty standard I guess. It kinda smell like cigarettes but otherwise looks mint had to drag it across town on my bike.
What is most important about this score is that it replaces my 450Mhz cube as my main system. Finally I can see you tube movies again :b&w: .
Also Warcraft 3 looks amazing and plays smooth! I think it even looks better the on my dads G5. Is the game geared more towards nVidia the ATI?
I was wondering what is the best graphics card I can put in this system (for a good price)? Can I use the ram of the cube for this system?
| Posted by: littlecloud92 on 2011-02-11 19:24:48 RAM wise they should be compatible, it's all PC133.
Is it the Quicksilver or Quicksilver 2002 that you've got?
| Posted by: highlandcattle on 2011-02-12 03:34:22 How do you spot the difference?
BTW i sit possible to add serial ports in the form of a PCI cart instead of thru USB?
| Posted by: littlecloud92 on 2011-02-12 08:36:56 The Quicksilver came in 733, 800DP, and 867, while the QS2002 came in 733 (ED model), 800, 933 and 1.0DP. Hence, your model is an original Quicksilver.
The differences between QS and QS2002 is minimal (excluding comparisons specifications-wise), but boils down to the following:
QS2002 supports LBA48 while QS does not (limited to 128GiB drives for the latter)
QS2002 requires a machine-specific 9.2.2 (pretty tedious to track down) to boot 9 while QS requires just 9.2.0 (easier to get it running, just install from a common 9.2.1 CD and update to 9.2.2)
I am sorry that I don't know the answer to your last question, having never had a need for Mac serial ports myself. Have never seen any PCI serial cards for Macs either. :I
