Power Mac 7500/G3
Posted by: rstanley on 2011-01-09 14:23:09
I recently scored a good amount of PowerPC stuff, including a 7500/100. Originally DOA, I found the cause of the problem to be a lack of ram and hard disk. To my surprise, it had a Newer Technologies G3 card in it. I pulled a hard disk and ram out of a dead 7200, and booted it up.

It's quite nice, and serves as a fantastic bridge machine.

Specs:

PowerPC G3 at 250mhz

312mb RAM

500MB HDD

OS 9.1

Next on my list is to install a Sonnet Tempo ATA card and maybe a Radeon.

Congrats. I got one of these recently too. Also with a G3 card (well, the stock 601 was pretty weak so I guess they may be quite common). They're a nice PPC machine to own.

Always liked the Outrigger Power Macs. My first Power Mac was a 7200, followed quickly by a 7300. I now maintain two 7300s, my original one now acting as the gopher server, and another one in the bedroom as a games Mac with 9.1, a Rage Orion and an OrangePC board to play a few Windows 95 games that were never ported to Mac OS. (But I bet many people didn't know there are Mac-native versions of Shogo MAD and System Shock.)
