help with ASDG Split and Join
Posted by: mraroid on 2015-06-19 10:06:53
Hi folks...

I bought some software that came on two floppies.  On one of the disks is a program called  "ASDG Split and Join File Splitter".

I suspect I load my two floppies and launch the program and it will make one file out of the two.  But I have tried many times in different ways, and I can not figure out how Split and Join works (no read me file).

Could someone give me a quick lesson?

I am trying to install on a Color Classic running 7.5.3

Thanks for the help.

My guess is that you open up Split, then select a file.  It'll then probably prompt you with some options such as Part Size or something similar.  It'll then take a file and split into smaller chunks (say, 1.4MB chunks so you can put a large file onto multiple floppies.)

Then you use the Join File Splitter application to join all those chunks back together to form the original file.

You'll want to copy Split and Join to your hard drive and not run them off the floppies.

Stuffit Deluxe or Compact Pro can do something similar (and perhaps better) because it can make it not only split into several pieces, but also self-extracting so you don't have to worry about joining the file back together.

Ahhh!  OK.  I will move ASDG to my hard drive - it seemed to only want to run from the floppy.  I will try again.  I hav Stuffit some version.  I will see if it can put the two files togeather.

Thanks for the tips!

I still can not get ASDG Split and Join File Splitter to work.  I will have to buy software on a CD I guess.
