| System 7 Disks and System 7.6 sealed box |
Posted by: jsarchibald on 2010-11-21 17:34:59 Hi all,
Last night, I came across a set of 12 System 7 floppies in a sleeve, and a sealed box set of System 7.6, for about $10 each. I'm pretty happy with the haul, as I've seen the floppy set sell for stupid money, and I've never seen a boxed System 7.6, especially sealed. My fave OS is System 7, so I'm very happy to have come across these items. Now I can install System 7 whenever I want, yee hah!

...and the rest of the gang.

Great find btw, js. I am sure those software disks will be of some importance one day.

Posted by: LCGuy on 2010-11-22 02:14:26 Very nice. 🙂 Your copy of System 7...is it one of the sets that would have shipped with a Mac back in the day? If it is it'll say in large Apple Garamond print, "System Disks", with "Use these disks if you need to install System Software." underneath. On the back will be a barcode with the model of Mac they originally shipped with. I have two of these sets for 7.1: one shipped with my LCIII, another shipped with an LCII.

Posted by: LCGuy on 2010-11-22 03:08:15 Yeah, looking at that auction, that set would have come as a retail version 🙂

I saw the price and I thought " Give me one good reason not to buy them". I couldn't find one.

Posted by: coius on 2010-11-22 12:40:57 are those typos on the boxes? Systeem? if those are, you got some RARE finds...

Posted by: LCGuy on 2010-11-22 12:53:57 Actually I'd say that given some of the other names and the fact that applefreak is in Belgium, its in a foreign language.
Either way, I'm loving "Mac OS 9 met Sherlock 2"

Posted by: ~Coxy on 2010-11-22 19:31:13 That System 7 box cover is great; I don't think I had ever seen it before.
If you have a scanner and some free time, would you perhaps be able to scan a high resolution image of the front? 🙂

My apologizes JS for posting my System 7 box on your thread. I will never do that again.

If you have a scanner and some free time, would you perhaps be able to scan a high resolution image of the front? Coxy- I would be more than glad to forward a picture of my System 7 box, in addition to its valuable contents, which I can proudly say are in mint condition (I wish I could say that for the box itself, however). The beauty of it is all of the software I have pictured on this thread was free, and the fellow who had it lived only two blocks away from my house! 5 years of searching for software to upgrade my valiant SE finally came to an end (although I still look for vintage Mac/IBM software) after searching through both my elementary, and secondary school, talking to ICT personnel, teachers, principals...the whole nine yards.

Fair's fair, I made fun of your Windows haul! So I think I had it coming. Well, I can assure you it was not because of that. I figured because the thread was System 7 related I would post a couple of pics just to keep it going. No sense in starting a new thread just to compete with one another.
Anyway, I learned my lesson. :beige:

Posted by: jsarchibald on 2010-11-22 20:39:58 I think I did too! But, if you hadn't, then you wouldn't have someone ogling your software, so it worthwhile.

Posted by: ~Coxy on 2010-11-23 19:22:06 It's perfectly fine for other people to post related experiences in a thread. Much better to have discussion, reminiscing, and back-and-forth than the alternative of many individual threads each with a few "garts" replies. :b&w:
The scan I would like is of the front of the System 7.1 box that Concorde1993 posted a picture of.
I know it's a bit silly and nerdy but I really like the design and would like to print a poster of it.
