ADB mouse = slow cursor
Posted by: MattB on 2010-11-07 14:45:10
I picked up a free Apple ADB Mouse Mk1 today. It works, but for some reason the cursor moves extremely slowly when it's plugged in. I've connected it to a Powerbook 190 and a Kanga-class G3 with the same results. Oddly, even after the mouse is unplugged, the trackpad continues to move the cursor slowly even when the mouse tracking speed is set to the highest speed. Anyone have any suggestions about what might cause this?

When you plug in a ADB mouse into a running machine it slows the mouse response down. I've never figured out why but if you leave it plugged in and restart the machine it will correct the mouse speed issue.

Yes, and in power macs they sort-of fixed that, but the cursor became less precise, i.e. impossible to move it by just one pixel at a time.

I don't remember why either, but I did found a control strip module that "resets" the ADB bus or something so that the mouse starts working fine again. 😀

I'll have to boot up my 6100 and find out what it was called, then get the original installer from the MacAddict CD I got it from.

I'll post it here went I find it. 😉
