| Orange PCware bus error |
Posted by: CelGen on 2010-10-27 22:54:52 By luck I came across an OrangePC Nubus (can't seem to tell the model but it's a full-length card with a 100mhz DX4 on it) card and I installed it in my Quadra. I have the install disc for my OrangePCi 540 card but when I start the installer I get a bus error and the whole system restarts.
To make sure it was not the CD drive acting funny I copied the CD to the hard drive and tried again....same thing.
Is this an incompatibility with the installer or something? My only other guess is it probes the Nubus for the card and something is up with the card and it nukes the bus and kills the system.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2010-10-28 06:03:32 I think the 540 model is a Pentium PCI based one, so it would not run on a Nubus 486.
If you can take a picture of the card I might be able to help identify it. My 486-100 card has one PCMCIA slot on the end. I also have a full length 486-133 model which was the last Nubus one made I think (Model 340).

OrangePC Nubus / install disc for my OrangePCi / bus error ... well, yeah :?:
There's a driver for their 386 card at the macdrivermuseum - try that one. If that fails, try the link at the bottom to put in a request for help to their group.

Posted by: CelGen on 2010-10-29 00:55:47 The manual described all the cards, Nubus included. I just assumed that the actual software that managed the card would care less about the bus.
I'll try the 386 driver anyways though it just sounds pretty old.

I just assumed that the actual software that managed the card would care less about the bus. Uh ... why?

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2010-10-29 06:01:35 I have OrangePC 486 Nubus drivers (will image the disks this weekend when I dig them out), take a pic of the card so I can see what model it is.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2010-10-29 21:00:15 Yea, thats the same one in my IIfx. Hopefully tomorrow I will fire it up and grab the drivers for it.

Posted by: CelGen on 2010-10-31 15:12:52 Sweet. Thanks.
To be sure from what I heard, the break-out cable for it was not necessary for a video output, right? I was told it only handled serial and parallel.
|
Posted by: Unknown_K on 2010-10-31 19:27:53 Going to go look now.
Don't think that model even had a breakout cable, is there a socket for one?
Generaly you shared the Mac monitor (either in a window or full screen), on some models you could do dual monitors with the breakout cable (340 model, etc).

Posted by: CelGen on 2010-10-31 20:08:21 There is some sort of funky connector beow the PCMCIA slot. I'm really hoping though that it can just work Windowed so I can....and you will love this...
Run a Windows 95 session on a mac, connected to using VNC, from SoftWindows 95, running on an SGI. 😛

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2010-10-31 23:11:43 The files are a few MB, so I need someplace to dump them. I grabbed the 200 series and 300 series a while ago. Can you setup an FTP by chance?
|
Posted by: Bunsen on 2010-11-01 02:34:49 Send them to the Mac Driver Museum instead/as well; they don't have them there.

Posted by: coius on 2010-11-02 06:43:58 I can offer my services. PM Me and I will give you an FTP login and put it up on an HTTP page
|
Posted by: CelGen on 2010-11-02 21:29:09 That would be appreciated Coius. I don't currently have a system setup for FTP yet.
|
Posted by: coius on 2010-11-03 14:53:13 I gave Unknown_K an upload account. Once it's uploaded, I will put it in the appropriate location and put it up on my webserver for you to get. Also, I will post a direct download link in this post

Posted by: Bunsen on 2010-11-03 18:03:35 Nice one coius. If you could forward it on to macdrivermuseum, I reckon that would be great for everyone 😀
|
Posted by: coius on 2010-11-03 18:33:32 How do I do that? I can't find a place to send it to. No email/etc..?
I also don't use Yahoo! Groups. I would recommend more someone else who can do it. Just go ahead and download it for it to be sent.
