Another CD support question

So I have installed System 7.6.1 on my 601-equipped Quadra 950 and I'm trying to get a Yamaha CRW-4260TX SCSI CD-RW drive to behave with the OS.

I can boot from it no problem, Drive Setup can see it but Apple being what they are, the CD-rom extension is not allowing me to use it to mount anything.

Was there a driver released for this drive or will I have to try out the FWB CD-rom toolkit and hope it works?

I use FWB with a Yamaha CD burner on System 7 as a CD-ROM. Toast on later systems as a CD-RW.

Did Toast come with its own CD extension? I have Toast 4 on hand if that means anything.

Yes, Toast comes with its own CD driver extension which will probably work. However, the best solution may be to get the Apple universal CD-ROM driver here:

I'm pretty sure you will need to have the main driver version 5.3.1 and all of the other extensions from 5.3.2.

You should also be able to use the CD-ROM without a driver at all if you have a bootable CD in there as it boots from the hard drive. Once it mounts on the desktop, you can eject and use other CDs just fine. It's one of those weird old Mac quirks.

It seems that this one seemed to do the trick. It's happily reading and writing now. Thanks.
