They're fun devices. Someone I know chopped the plug off one and interfaced it to a Commodore 64. It was pretty much only good for (very slow) stills, but it was neat. See

I used to check that my vinyl cutting plotter was still running and on track remotely from home using Timbuktu, a standard video camera with Quadra 630 class machines at both ends to make & transfer Quicktime VidCaps to download and replay on the machine at home. Then I could load the next job when it stopped and re-start the plotter without driving into the shop to do it.
It wasn't really video-conferencing, but it pre-dated the Web-Cam Video-Conferencing era!

Roger Wilco Requires:
System 7.1 or later
2 Megabytes free disk space
1.5 Megabytes free memory
Appearance manager 1.03 or later (see note 1)
Sound Manager 3.2 or later (see note 2)
Note 1:
Appearance Manager is bundled into MacOS 8.5 and above. If you have MacOS 8.5 or above, nothing additional is required.
Note 2:
Sound Manager 3.2 is included with QuickTime 3 or higher. If you have QuickTime 3 or higher, nothing additional is required.
If you're running a version of MacOS earlier than 8.5, the Roger Wilco installer will install the necessary Appearance Manager items for you. It will NOT install the Sound Manager extension. To check your version of Sound Manager, find the Sound Manager extension in the Extensions folder of your System Folder. Click on the icon and choose "Get Info" from the File menu. It needs to be version 3.2 or later. Roger Wilco uses UDP port 3782 by default.
Maybe people would be interested in doing a voice conference for fun. Or using it while playing StarCraft or something. 🙂

Oooh, Classic Mac StarCraft with voice chat going on at the same time. That would be fun!
I've got a serial webcam here, I'll have to see what fun I can get up to with it on an old machine.
