One of these faults is the DC-in board. The AC adaptor doesn't charge the battery or start the iBook either. For power, I've been swapping batteries in and out of my other fully working iBook.
Anyway, I came here to ask if it is possible to repair the DC-In board? I have experience with soldering and electronics and I would prefer to repair it than splash out the cash on a new one.
Many thanks.

Anyway, gave it the sniff test and I smelt what I believe is ozone. Or whatever that smell is that blown-up electronics make. Without looking, I think it's a capacitor that blewup, something easy to replace. Or maybe I got lucky and blew a fuse.
Anyway, I need to figure out how to open this iBook first.

plugged it in, there was sharp crackle from the DC socket and the light on the plug did not light up. There was a smell of burnt electronic component or PCB (printed circuit board) coming from the socket This was my exact same experience.
