| XPostFacto: Internal HDD "Not Bootable" |
Posted by: MattB on 2010-09-18 18:00:32 I got one of my Kangas fully up and running (actually posting this thread from it) and would like to put something more useful than 9.1 on it. I installed XPostFacto but in the main application window it displays the internal HDD on the system as "not bootable". The drive is clearly bootable for OS9, so I'm not sure why XPostFacto would say it isn't. I've read the FAQs for the program but there's nothing about anything like this. Any ideas about what could cause this would be greatly appreciated.

Posted by: MattB on 2010-09-18 19:38:53 So do I have to wipe the drive and set up new partitions? Right now the 5GB internal drive isn't broken up into multiple partitions.

Posted by: PowerPup on 2010-09-18 20:05:57 You should be able to just go into Mac OS X's preferences and click on Startup Disk, and reboot to your Mac OS 9 system.
Once in Mac OS 9, you need to use OS9 Helper to install Mac OS 9.2.1 or 9.2.2.
Remember to follow the steps mentioned to restore your sound after installing Mac OS 9.2.x. 😉
Hope this helps. 😉

Posted by: MattB on 2010-09-21 09:15:54 I actually don't have OSX on the machine now, just 9.1. I installed XPF in anticipation of putting OSX 10.2 on it, but it doesn't seem to view the internal HDD as a bootable drive. Is there any way to solve this other than wiping the drive and partitioning it?

Posted by: PowerPup on 2010-09-21 10:21:14 Hm.. As long as your HD is formatted HFS+ I don't see why it shouldn't work...
I'll fire up XPostFacto this evening and try to retrace what I did for my Lombard. 😉
