| FTP Server software for a PowerBook 540? |
Posted by: coius on 2010-09-15 16:06:12 Hi all, I don't post much but I need the forum's help.
I need to be able to access my PowerBook 540 server through FTP (since I don't have a good way to transfer stuff through network from windows machines) and am looking for a decent FTP server software package I can run internally inside the house (aka not accessable from the outside), so I don't need SSL/FTPS support. Just something simple so I can update the website. The system will be running either 7.5 or 7.6, but I can go all the way up to 8.1 if I have to (I have the discs for all of this) so operating system versions are not an issue.
So the primary thing is:
must run on a 68k, must be FTP (ssl/ftps not needed) and must be able to run with a small HTTP server in the background (aka MacHTTP from sourceforge). I can afford to give up to 8-12MB RAM to devote to the machine. It needs to not need a FPU since the PowerBook 540 I have is not a full 68040.
If anyone could guide me to one, hopefully free, I would be very happy. It would allow me to update the web pages more often than having to figure out a way to get the files transfered.

Posted by: MacJunky on 2010-09-15 16:35:02 There is a 68k version. I have used it on my LC575! I just cannot remember what that version was, though I will have a look around some HDDs to see if I still have it around.
Also, QuadSix50 has in his sig
"- 33 MHz Apple Mac Quadra 650 (Mac OS 8.1, MacHTTP/NetPresenz FTP)"
It would appear that he also has it running on a 68k. You just have to find the right version; they are not all PPC only.
