| *twitch* Apple //c FPD apparently for sale on another forum |
Posted by: Anonymous Freak on 2010-08-31 21:32:12 Okay, I'm a greedy bastard, I'm not going to name the other forum for fear that someone will outbid me. It's not an Apple forum. But someone has posted that they just came in possession of a //c Flat Panel Display, has no use for it, and is wondering how much it's worth...
I haven't seen any go up for sale on FleaBay recently, so I have no clue. Anyone bought or sold one recently? Have any vague gauge on a value? If my "bid" is sufficiently low that I'd feel guilty taking it for that, I'll happily point people in the right direction.

Posted by: luddite on 2010-09-01 10:47:55 It's one of those things that's too uncommon to have a predictable market value... I've seen them go for upwards of $600. If it's the Apple branded one it's got more value to a collector, but I believe the equally rare third-party ones are supposed to be better.
Hopefully the seller doesn't really know what he's got and you can swing a good deal...

Posted by: Anonymous Freak on 2010-09-05 12:20:00 Seller replied back on the other forum that it's broken, but hasn't replied back again saying HOW. I went ahead and pointed him to both here and the VCF, but haven't seen him post in either location.

Posted by: Paralel on 2010-09-05 14:06:48 If he isn't a technical kind of person "broken" could mean just about anything.

Posted by: Anonymous Freak on 2010-09-05 22:47:10 Yeah, I reiterated my $50 offer. Haven't heard back in a four days. (Admittedly, it is a holiday weekend here in the U.S., and I took a few extra days off, myself; so the delay may not be a sign of anything bad. He did take a week to reply to my first post, after all.)

Posted by: Osgeld on 2010-09-05 23:13:47 well good luck to you, I would love to have one myself (though I would much rather have that 3rd party one that I can never remember the name of that was a full screen model)
|
Posted by: Paralel on 2010-09-06 13:02:57 Wait, the Apple model wasn't "full screen"? What exactly do you mean?
|
Posted by: Osgeld on 2010-09-06 13:40:31 the apple one is a rectangle, weather it shows a full screen display or not ... I thought not, I thought it was only a half screen (or its squashed bigtime)
anyway there was a 3rd party one that had a full 4:3 lcd in it, it was advertised heavily in A+ back when (I will have to dig around my dad's house to see if he still has some of those old magazines)
|
Posted by: luddite on 2010-09-06 14:26:03 The Apple version does show the full screen, but it is quite squashed.

a IIc starting Multiscribe
contrast of the screen should be better
|
Posted by: applefreak on 2010-09-06 15:25:40 third party
C-vue

full screen : Ator 'The Display'
|
Posted by: Osgeld on 2010-09-06 17:46:47 YES the (display by) ator!
thank you (I am just 1 tiny shade less nuts now)
|
Posted by: Paralel on 2010-09-07 04:07:01 $595 is damn reasonable for an LCD back in those days.
|
Posted by: dorkbert on 2010-09-14 21:12:24 I think one went for $185 on fleaBay recently.
