Greetings.

Does anyone remember this shareware MOD Music tracker application? It was my favorite for the Mac, and I'd love to find a working copy somewhere. Google has been fruitless so far... :-/ The original developer, Antoine Rosett, open sourced it a while back. But the version he released was all PowerPC code, and thus useless to me. I have a fat version here (4.5.5), but it refuses to work on my Quadra 700.

If anyone has any 68K versions, I would appreciate it immensely.

I do remember PlayerPro! I used it, with some degree of success, to listen to some MODs a friend made. I didn't know that it was around back in the 68k days. I have several versions archived around here somewhere, but I think they are 5.7-5.9, probably not 68k. If will look for any older versions I may have here.

I used it in the late 90s (being a bit poor and not a fan of Windows, my 68k days were until 2003), and I've seen various postings saying there were versions from around late-94ish.

Any 68k Tracker/MOD software would be awesome. I've had very little luck getting anything working on my Quadra. For now I'm blaming it on A/UX, which is quirky beyond belief.

Feel free to PM me if anyone is interested in 4.5.8, 4.5.9, and 5.9. (That's all i have on hand.)

I know Antoine Rosett is still around and doing his thing. For the past few years, he's been working on a piece of software called Osirix. You might be able to track him down through the Osirix webpage and see if he could be of any help.

5.2 is supposed to be the last 68K version, and I can't find evidence of it anywhere. Surely it must exist on some disk somewhere?

i have a version somewhere at home, can upload it here later if you want?

The freeware versions of 5.2 and 5.1 appear to be hosted here. Should probably mirror them as they weren't easy to find. The non-freeware 5.2 remains elusive.

I am also looking for this. It's not uploaded in any of the usual places.

There the versions I can link to... Slightly thrown by you editing your post after my first response so that you're now making more specific requests. I think I've seen 5.2... might be in the giant Audio archive...

Nope, https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/ppc-audio-software-os7-osx58-some-68k-apps just hast lots of 4.5.x variants and 5.9 freeware.

I did buy a license to this software… wonder if I still have it… probably. When/if I find it I'll let you know.

Found it.
What's the procedure for sharing these kind of things? Is it allowed, not?

What the hell(o)?
I guess it's in a format that my Apple Silicon can't read. When I get my Luxo iMac set up, I will try. The disc is in perfect condition, so I'm thinking that it's in HFS format instead of HFS+?

But yeah, what's the policy for sharing these here?

OP, I don't know what version is on the disc yet, I'll let you know if it is 4.5.5 or not. But the back does say it supports System 7 or later with a 68020, so I would think that it would work for you. If I can get it mounted…

I've put it in my iMac running MacOS X 10.4… I don't even get any message, just doesn't see it at all.

Do I just have a fancy coaster? The CD seems to look fine, always in the jewel case. CD rot? I don't know if I have a SCSI cd player.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm so bummed. Maybe one of my HD has an installed version of it.

The Luxo's Superdrive was dirty. It wasn't reading any disc at all. Good thing I had a Maxell DVD cleaner. I got the disc mounted. Making a disc image of it now.

The full disc image is 426 MB, so think it's too big to attach.
Is there a recommended place for uploading this kind of stuff?

I just realized that the OP hasn't been here since 2010. Oh well, at least I got the software working.

Upload to Macintosh Garden, thanks! One of the best music/playback programs for Classic OS.

Yup, uploading to macintosh garden is the usual answer. You'd want this page :

Note...
1. Upload as an uncompressed disk image, preferably an ISO, or bin+cue if it has a data and an audio session or independent Mac and PC sessions.
2. The upload UI doesn't give much feedback and is a bit worrying for larger uploads, just set it going and leave it for 20 minutes, it should be fine.
